Compaq PCs (with original compaq HDD) flash the cursor (block shape) in the top right corner of the screen for a few seconds during boot up. Press the F10 while the cursor is flashing to get into CMOS Setup.

If this doesn't work - If you didn't build the compaq non-DOS partition on a new HDD - then you will need to use the compaq Setup disk(s) to get into CMOS Setup (and build the compaq partition).

Some of this is probbly in the User's manual.
