: : Hello,
: : I need some info. I recently bought a 40gig hard drive however my intel 440 bx\zx pentium 2\3 board with an award 4.51 pg bios (2A69kL7A) does not recognise it. I've used my office computer to partition the hard drive into smaller blocks, but have yet to test at home, will my bios now recognise the hard disk?
: : I've tracked the manufacturer down (lanner technologies) but no updates are available. If the partition idea doesn't fly, is my only option replacing the bios, or mainboard?
: : Thanks in advance,
: : Rob

: There is a 32GB-Bug in all Award BIOS Versions 4.5x.
: IDE-HDs larger than 32GB cause a crash or will be ignored.
: Partions or Filesystems doesn't play a role.
: As far as I know there is NO BIOS-UPDATE!!!
: Solutions:
: A) Check your HD-manufacturers website for an overlay-software.
: B) Buy an IDE-Cotroller with own BIOS.
: C) Maybe unicore offers an BIOS-Update (www.unicor.com)

Uups correct address is: www.unicore.com
