: My father has an old AST Adventure 412 and I just upgrade his memory from 24 MB to 128 MB, but the system will only recognize 32 MB. I believe this is a BIOS problem because even if I mix and match the memory the system only recognizes 32 MB and there is nothing in the CMOS to change.

: HELP!!

: The weird thing is...the system appears to be running fine with the 128 megs installed.

: Any assistance would be appreciated.

More than likely a chipset limitation, NOT BIOS - could be a maximum MB per stick limit, could be max bits per chip on the stick - if you have more bits per chip it only uses the max it knows about. If you can find a stick with more chips on it, maybe chips on both sides of the stick you might get up to 64 MB, maybe higher, depending on the limits.

Suggest you try to find specs - maybe in the old manual - maybe on a web site someplace. Seems like AST is going by a different name now - support may be hard to find.

Good Luck,
