: I have a Wintec/Edom mobo, company is now defunct. Motherboard is a W6BXA using Intel 440BX with id string as W977KF-2A69KWODC-A7. I need the BIOS upgrade bin file. I have one, but it won't work, says the program does not match. The board works fine, just won't recognize my 40 gig maxtor. Using a P3/500, seems fast enough, but can't get the drive working though a 10 gig works fine. The 40 gig is a good drive, works on other PCs.
: Edom/Wintec is gone, tried driversguide.com and drivers.com and wims bios, which is now almost useless as a web site. THey just want to sell the bios', a ripoff for someone who bought a motherboard. The problem you are having is that the bin file isnt exactly the same as the one in your bios chip. If you do a flash and it does't match up properly your chip is no good. If you pay the money for the upgrade you are assured a working computer. This isn't the case with the free downloads. They take no responsibility for whatever goes wrong. The money you save on an upgrade, greatly out weigh the cost of a new MB and all new hardware. Its the support that you pay for not the chip.
