: Hey everyone,
: I built a pc a few weeks ago with a K7S5A. I updated the Ami Bios to support my Athlon XP1700 processor (using the flash utility and most recent bios version from the ECS site). Everything seemed to work fine but...the system still says that the clock speed of my processor is 1100 mhz. Any ideas why that is so?
: Thanx,

Here is the fix. When you upgraded your bios everything went back to the stock settings. I had the same problem with my XP1600...started out indicating that it was an XP1600 and suddenly it went to 1050 MHZ...it turned out that I had to go back into the bios and set up the CPU and DDR frequency...they went back to the default 100 Mhz setting...you got to reset them to 133/133. This will cause your bio to recognize the microprocessor frequency at approximately 1450 Mhz...and display XP1700 on boot up....

And no...even though your XP is performance rated...it's not around 1100 Mhz...like someone said. It's 1470 Mhz...you just need to tweak the bios like I've indicated above.

Note: This will also happen every time you switch from Optimal settings to Best performance settings...for some reason...the MOBO bios resets the CPU and memory freq to 100/100.

100/100 133/133.

Go from this 1100 Mhz to this XP1700 @ 1470 Mhz

Good luck...Alienplayer...out...
