: While trying to flash the BIOS on a ThinkPad 600 the update proceeded until a hardware error was reported and the program stopped. The MB had previously reported a track point error which I had bypassed in the system setup. I was not expecting this track-point error to cause the BIOS upgrade to fail. Now the system does not post. I am just starting to look in to this problem. Any-one know a solution short of replacing the system board? Can the BIOS be flashed using a CPU emulator card or can the BIOS EPROM be removed and reprogrammed or replaced with a programed one?

Check with IBM Tech Support or find the Hardware Maintenance Manual - desktops have a means to reflash - I'd expect laptops to have the feature also.

Good Luck,
