: Hello, can anyone help me find a BIOS upgrade for the above. I'm having problems trying to determine what type of system board I have. I installed (tried) a 40GB Western Digital hard disk and tech support determined I needed to update the BIOS...Any help would be appreciated.

If you cannot find a BIOS update to support your 40 GB HDD just use an ATA/66 card - it will support HDDs up to about 128 GB and it will be much faster than the sustained data transfer rate of the fastest IDE HDD you can get (now).

You need to know your mainboard model and version - both are probably printed on the board - possibly between the slots or along an edge or ...

If your BIOS ID String is correct it appears that you have an Abit mainboard. Look for BIOS update for YOUR model and version mainboard at:

Make certain that you get the right BIOS update for YOUR mainboard. If you use the wrong "update' you will corrupt your BIOS and your PC won't work right.

Hope this helps,
