compaq PCs usually have a non-DOS diagnostic partition as the first partition on the boot HDD. This small partition contains CMOS Setup and Diagnostic Utilities. As the PC begins POST a solid cursor flashes in the top right corner of the screen - if you press F10 while the block cursor is flashing you can enter CMOS Setup.

If you have the board ONLY you will need the CMOS Setup Utility; hopefully you can find the diagnostics, too. Drill down (using PC model - not mainboard model number). You may be able to buy a Setup and Diagnostic CD from compaq at:
