: Hi,

: I recently fried my BIOS chip (29EE010) on my PC-Chips M710. It seems to have overwritten even the boot block on the BIOS as I don't get floppy seek on reboot, just a lot of depressing fan noise. Does the flash process program the boot sector, or does it only download to the data area. I ask because I may try a hot-swap flash on a similar board if I think it'll work. Must salvage some professional dignity ....

Suggest that you study Amptron's corrupt BIOS recovery article at:
http://www.amptron.com/Documents/Recover_a_corrupt_BIOS.pdf

Hot Swap would be my second or third choice. Post again if you would like a good URL.

If all else fails a local Tech with EPROM programmer can reprogram your chip or you can get a new chip or get your old one reprogrammed at:
http://www.badflash.com [North America]

Good Luck,
Henry
