STOP NOW if you just want the latest BIOS - NO NEED to risk corrupting your BIOS if your PC is working OK and you have the functions you need.

Sounds like a stealth mainboard maker or pirated BIOS (or MAYBE the maker is too new to show up in the list). Try Award Tech Support by phone - see if they've assigned a maker to the ID. Make sure you are reading the BIOS ID string correctly - get "detect" from Unicore:
http://www.unicore.com

It will make a file for you.

Examine the board carefully - sometimes model numbers are printed between the expansion slots. If you find a model number just search the internet for that model number - the maker will turn up (along eith reviews and more). If no onboard ID except version number - suspect PC Chips and try to match your board to a PC Chips model at:
http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/

Search from there if you get a hit. Second suspect (for no board ID) would be PC Partner at:
http://www.pcpartner.hk

You MAY be able to get some leads from Intel - they MAY have a list of board makers who used the 440BX and 440ZX chipsets; no need investigating any others.

There are mainboard ID methods other than wimsbios. Suggest that you follow the matherboard ID article at:
http://www.amptron.com/Documents/Recover_a_corrupt_BIOS.pdf

If all else fails - post your reasons for wanting to "update" your BIOS - there may be good alternatives for you.

Good Luck,
Henry
