: : Hi...

: : I`ve found a place to update my BIOS, and think I may have made a booboo. The update (or supposedly update) has caused the laptop to not recognise the floppy drive, but.. it seems the hard drive can be recognised, and I can get back into the Bios no problem. I can go back to the old BIOS, but problem is I need to get into dos, and the harddrive needs an operating system installed on it.. Isit possible to make the hard disk bootable to DOS if I copy some files over from the desktop pc???

: : Any help would be great
: : Thanks

: It sounds like you have installed a new HDD in your laptop and updated the BIOS so the full capacity can be used. If that is correct, you would need to partition and format your HDD to make it bootable. You cannot copy anything to the drive until it is formatted.

: You could install the laptop HDD on your desktop (you will need a laptop to desktop HDD adapter), partition and format it and build a nice DOS system on it - it should boot on your laptop and you could run DOS as long as you have all of the files from \windows\command copied to it.

: If you still have your old laptop HDD you could clone it to your new HDD (on the desktop) and it would run on the laptop if you do it right - post again if you need instructions to do it with software you already have.

: Good Luck,

Yeppp. thanks,,, I have a desktop 2.5 to 3.5 inch adaptor and I can format and partition the hard disk that way... Which I think would be the best route for me to go down. Once I can boot it back into dos.. I should be able to flash the other bios back and get back to a fully working laptop :)

Thanks for your help
