: I just booted a computer with a floppy i thought was a normal bootdisk. It was a bootdisk with a flashutility for another BIOS than i have.
: It was for an AMI BOIS and i have an AWARD BIOS. Now i can't start the computer at all. Any way to recover this?

Probably, at home if you are lucky!

Follow Amptron's Corrupt BIOS Recovery article at:
http://www.amptron.com/Documents/Recover_a_corrupt_BIOS.pdf

Your BIOS may still have the Award Boot Block so try the Award recovery method first; try AMI method if Award dowsn't work.

After recovery CLEAR CMOS, enter setup, set date and time, autodetect IDE devices and choose Default Settings; save settings and exit. After a few successful starts you can tweak CMOS Settings the way you like them.

If nothing works you can get a new programmed BIOS chip or get your old one reprogrammed at:
http://www.badflash.com [North America]
or
http://flashbios.org [Europe]
or
http://store.firmware.com/cgi-bin/mfi

Good Luck,
Henry
