: I need help ! I have a Bios I want to upgrade and I am struggling. I have an Award Modular Bios V4.50PG that I want to upgrade. It is on an ECS (Elitegroup) mainboard, Winbond 29ee011/sv, 08/25/95-sis-5501-503-2a5ice1ac-00, I have tried the bin file with s154a10 V2, which is 550xpnp.bin and run it in awdflash.exe. When I enter the bin file in the program name box and press enter, it seems to load the file and then just hangs ? Does anyone know if I have the right file and if not the right file name and where I can get it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. email Dave at wiseup@frost1.co.uk.

You probably followed the directions really well, but most of the instructions I have seen were pretty badly written - and responsible for a lot of misflashes. Instructions sometimes change a little between major revs, too.

If you run the award flasher with /?, /H or /h as:
>awdflash /?
It should display a list of commands and switches that may help.

I found pretty good Award BIOS instructions at:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/award-bios-update/

You might be able to get a good flash by using the corrupt BIOS recovery procedure (worth knowing even if you don't need it!) at:
http://www.amptron.com/Documents/Recover_a_corrupt_BIOS.pdf

Sometimes manufacturers use BIOS chips that are not flashable - probably a supply problem. You can get a non-flashable chip reprogrammed or get a programmed flashable chip at:
http://www.badflash.com

Good Luck,
Henry
