: : I have a Pentium 200MMX with 32Mb memory (8x4 simm) VX Pro+ motherboard. I tried to upgrade with 128 Mb SDRAM (possible according to motherboard manuel) but only quarter of the value of the memory is considered. thus 128 is considered only 32 Mb.
: : anyone have ever solved this problem by upgrading the bios?
: : thanks

: BIOS update WILL NOT HELP; memory support is a CHIPSET issue. PC Chips manuals are not as clear as they might be in their memory maps. I think your mainboard has 4 slots for 72 pin SIMMs and 2 slots for 168 pin DIMMs. Many of the M5xx PC Chips mainboards support 384MB total RAM, 256MB (2x128MB) SIMMs and 128MB DIMMS (2x64MB). Some boards will work with ONE 128MB DIMM if the DIMM has chips on both sides of the stick; most of these low number PC Chips boards DO NOT work with 128MB DIMMs. If you are interested in WHY just look it up in the VXPro+ (VIA Apollo VPX) chipset spec "sheet" (book).

: For future reference, a couple of very helpful, unofficial PC Chips sites are:

: You can identify your mainboard model at the above site and find lots of info there.

: You can find lots of info at:
:
: If your mainboard is M537DMA33 be sure and visit:

: Hope this helps,
