It is said that, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention." If we need something, there is always a creative person around to invent it. Where would our world be today without all of the millions of inventions that people use everyday? Doing without many of these inventions would result in our everyday lives coming to an immediate stop.

From the middle of the 19th century to the present day the main focus of our society has been to make the world a smaller place. The first way we made the world smaller was with changes in transportation. The invention of the T-model, the first automobile, was an enormous step. The car was an amazing invention but it was not affordable to the common people. Henry Ford, the inventor of the T-model, understood that it was essential that the price drop. Mr. Ford found a way to make his car affordable with the invention of the assembly line. But them came the Wright brothers, and they wanted more them just traveling from cities to cities. They comprehend that the people wanted to travel to different continents. Going from Europe to America would take weeks by ships. Together they created one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century and together with Fordís T-Model gave rise to a revolution in transportation.

Now that the world was becoming small with the invention of the car and the airplane, men decided that it was time to go to space and the moon. The space program was created to send the first human into space. But it ran into some problems. To send people into space it was necessary to perform complex mathematical calculations in seconds. It was not humanly possible to calculate that fast therefore the US government funded research and development to create a calculating device that would perform calculations fast. After a short period of time the task was completed. The first calculator was invented and the space program was able to continue. But one thing no one would have ever that the invention of the calculator would start whatís being called the third greatest revolution in the history of mankind, the computer revolution.

During each moment of our history, our society had needs. The great inventors were able to understand the peopleís needs and created something that would make our lives easier than before. We felt a need to globalize, to explore, and to share information and these inventions made these needs possible. So whatís next? What else is needed or necessary? Some people say life canít get any easier than what itís right now but remember half of the people on Earth have never made a phone call in their lives let alone surfed the Web. Thereís still a lot needs in our society and a lot to be done. I hope the proverb stands true and I hope thereís always a creative person around to invent a solution to our problems.
