: I need help!

: Machine spec: GA-6BXE motherboard, PII-350, 256MB,

: I have recently downloaded from Gigabyte the current Bios Flash upgrd 6bxe_f2.zip for my motherboard and then copied the extracted files to bootable a floppy disk. I have installed the the new bios version with the flash846.exe prg without any problems. I then re-booted the machine however the computer fails to boot whatsoever. Nothing at all appears on the screen. Since this time no activity, I canīt boot from any device.

: How can I recover a functional bios, I have backup of the old one.

: I hope I've given enough detail but please help if you can.

: Thanks in advance for the help!

: regards,

: Thomas

Not certain what your setup is or your EXACT procedure. It is a good idea to run your PC on a UPS when you flash the BIOS (ALL other times, too) - any interruption during flashing will corrupt your BIOS; wrong BIOS for the board will do it, too. DOS based Flashers won't work right if there are any drivers such as HIMEM loaded - MAKE the bootable floppy with just the basic system files, system Startup/Setup disk WILL NOT work right.

Study Amptron's corrupt BIOS recovery article at:
http://www.amptron.com/Documents/Recover_a_corrupt_BIOS.pdf

If all else fails, get a programmed BIOS chip or get your old chip reprogrammed at:
http://www.badflash.com [North America]
or:
http://flashbios.org [Europe]

Good Luck,
Henry
