: Hi
: I have the above motherboard and wish to upgrade the memory dimm slot.
: I currently have 16MB on board and x2 8MB EDO SIMM.
: What type of memory do i use in the dimm slot?.

STUDY your mainboard manual - it should tell you that ONLY (fairly uncommon) EDO/FPM memory is supported for the DIMM slot; 3.3volt SDRAM is NOT supported by the M592 mainboard.

Appears that you have 16MB onboard EDO memory - PLUS the SIMM and DIMM slots; total memory supported is 144MB - so (theoretically) you might be able to add 128MB - but NOT likely in the DIMM slot - maybe two 64MB EDO or FPM SIMMs would work for you?? Suggest that you verify before you try OR get memory from a store that will allow return if it does not work in your board.

Suggest that you check SIMM capacity of your board - 64MB EDO sticks are less than $35 each (www.netseller.com).

You can find a lot of free (unofficial) PC Chips support at:

You can find brief mainboard specs and download a manual from the bottom of the page at:

Hope this helps,
Henry
