: Hi all,

: Hi have the following mainboard Jetway 542BS, and I have recently installed another 64mb of RAM and the bios did not pick the extended memory up so I thought I bios upgrade may do the trick!! Has anyone got the bios upgrade for this board???

BIOS "update" WILL NOT solve your memory problem. If your BIOS does not see the memory your DIMM is not installed correctly. New DIMMs are very hard to seat correctly, especially in slots that have not been used before (dust, ...). Install and remove the stick at least six (6) times before you try to boot your PC - after a few installs you should observe a sharp, firm, single click when the DIMM seats simultaneously at both ends. If the seating feels "mushy" and/or you don't get one sharp click when the stick seats - try a few more times. Some mainboards deflect too much when you install memory; if so, you will need to support your mainboard on a flat surface (yep, remove it from the case - or MAYBE slide some dense cardboard under the DIMM slots for extra support).
