: I need your help!

: Firstly, machine spec: Microstar MS-6191 motherboard, AMD Athlon 650, Geforce2 MX 200, 512Mb Ram, Windows XP.

: I have recently downloaded the AMI Bios Flash v1.6 for my motherboard and then copied the extracted files plus to a floppy disk. I rebooted the machine with a Windows ME boot up disk and then swopped the disk for the newly created disk and ran the bios flash with the switch /a, this follows the MSI's guidelines.

: I then re-booted the machine however the computer fails to boot whatsoever. Nothing at all appears on the screen. The hard drive light remains on but there appears to be no activity.

: I hope I've given enough detail but please help if you can.

: thanks,
: Tesla.

: ps Happy Christmas

You misflashed your BIOS, possibly because your winme start disk loaded some drivers - you MUST run the flasher with NO DRIVERS AT ALL, that is, a CLEAN BOOT. Follow Amptron's article to figure out how to recover your corrupt BIOS:

Make a bootable floppy (format a:/s), copy your files to the bootable floppy and use it to start your PC (NO autoexec.bat, NO config.sys). Best bet is to use AMI's Quick Flash method included in "":

Good Luck,
