: I have a packard bell computer I tried to download a webcam and it sais my system does not locate a working usb port what do I do?

IF NOT running winNT (there is NO USB support in winNT:
1. INSPECT your PC. Does it have USB Ports for you to plug something into?
2. If YES enter CMOS Setup and ENABLE USB Support; be prepared to install USB DRIVERS from your win95b - you will need to apply the USB update (preferably win98 - no USB update required) OR LATER.
3. IF NO USB PORTS this will be complicated; get your manual - try and locate a USB header (an array of eight (8) to eighteen (18) pins. If you have just a header you need a connector for it and if you get the wrong connector you will fry (aka smoke) your mainboard (at least the USB function and maybe the power supply), so BE CAREFUL. I have collected pinouts for at least TEN (10) DIFFERENT configurations.
4. IF NO USB PORTS the SAFEST approach is to get an expansion card that has two or more ports.

Please post again if you need help sorting out a USB header pinout.
