: : I have a K7s5a motherboard and i want to update my bios for an athlon 1600 XP because it recognize like a 1400MHz processor. I have downloaded the aminf329. I've created a boot disk with the aminf329 files and the 011016.rom. When i run the aminf329, i have:

: : - flash part - winbond 49F002U

: : What can i do?

I think that 1400 Mhz is the correct clock speed for that processor. AMD's new athlon xp uses a quanti speed rating. This is because the IPC (instructions per clock) is higher. The raw clock speed seriously understates the true performance of that processor, hence 1600+ is related to performance. You probably don't need to change the bios. I am using the k7s5a in my system with Ami bios. Hope this helps,
