: I have an old Acer Aspire 5166 and changed the HD but the BIOS does not seem to recognize it. Does anybody know where can I find an update if any?

: Thanks

You should look for a BIOS update on the PC and/or mainboard maker's web site. You need to know your mainboard maker, mainboard model and possibly the mainboard version. Acer may have used someone else's mainboard. Suggest that you identify your mainboard by following the article at:

The quickest, surest, easiest way to get large HDD support is to use an ATA/66 expansion card (about $20 at Fry's, closeouts for $10). ATA/100 or ATA/133 will work at about double and quadruple ATA/66 cost - with very little, if any, noticeable performance difference. Check your HDD sustained data transfer rate to find out WHY.

Good Hunting,
