: Bios upgrade for Compaq Presario 9234 I am trying to put a 20gb Hard drive in and the bios only sees 508MB. This machine has the original BIOS and I need to flash it. Does anyone know where I can find this Bios flash? compaq website is not clear.

The safest place to find BIOS update is usually the maker's web site. compaq BIOS updates are usually in softpaqs, sometimes along with other stuff. Your HDD size limit suggests an older mainboard and update to large HDD (>8.4GB) is UNLIKELY.

Simplest, easiest, quickest, surest way to get large HDD support is to use an ATA/66 expansion card; it will support HDDs up to about 128GB (per drive). If you only have ISA slot available, you can use a DTC (Data Technology Corp) EIDE expansion card to get support up to about 32GB per drive.

Good Luck,
Henry
