: : I installed an IBM DTLA-307060 (61Gb) which is not recognised my my super old BIOS ... :

: : BIOS ID : 2A69KSNBC
: : BIOS Date : 07/20/98
: : BIOS signon : 07/20/1998-i440BX-W977-2A69KSNBC-00
: : BIOS type : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
: : Super I/O : Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
: : Chipset : Intel 440BX/ZX rev 2
: : OEM signon : REV J

: : Thanks to anyone who can supply me with any help.
: Looks like a Soltek mainboard, I can't tell which model - should be printed/painted on the board. You must make positive identification of board maker, board model and board revision - otherwise you mau\y get the wrong BIOS update. Find manual, BIOS update and more at:

: I recall a note (someplace!) that Award BIOS prior to about mid '99 cannot recognize HDD >32+/- GB. If true that could be a show stopper.

: If no Soltek BIOS fix then the choices I know are:

: 1. Drive overlay (soft BIOS) such as Data Manager or EZ-BIOS (look for Data Manager at IBM's web site). These things are hard to remove if you need to do that.
: 2. Most PCI IDE cards can recognize HDD up to 128 GB.
: 3. Consider hardware BIOS extension from:
: http://store.firmware.com/cgi-bin/mfi [ATA PRO Flash]
: http://www.unicore.com/products/extenders/lbapro.htm [LBA PRO]

: Maybe someone else has some better ideas.

: Good Luck,
: Henry

Thanks a lot for the quick reply,
I found my BIOS for my SL-62A Solltek mb as you pointed out :) , however, strangely enough the awdflash program did not work successfully, and I am left with my old BIOS settings :(
It writes down error underneath and leaves me with that, without specifying what error it is ...
