: copyright (c) tenberry software, inc 1996
: - chipset type - sis 735
: - flash part - winbond 49F002U
: - error 2 - file does not exist

: What can i do?

: Thanks for you answer

Some (Fairly obvious) basics.

1. Usually best place to get BIOS update and flasher are at the mainboard maker's web site
2. READ BIOS Release Notes - DO NOT "update" BIOS if Release Notes do not include a solution to your problem; NOTHING to gain, BIOS to lose if you update anyway.
3. READ and FOLLOW the mainboard maker's BIOS update instructions - EXACTLY.
4. SAVE a copy of your BIOS, you MAY want/need to go back to it.
5. With AMI BIOS, if maker's instructions don't work for you, you can use the "Quick Flash" update method described in one of the files in AMIFLASH.ZIP at:
http://www.ami.com/support/dlverify.cfm?DLFile=support/dlcenter/AMIFLASH.zip&InpDrvID=90

The Quick Flash method does not require a flash program.
6. Some mainboards have a jumper setting to enable/disable BIOS update.
7. Some BIOS chips require 5V to run, 12V to update.
8. Your flasher must support the BIOS chip and the mainboard (chipset), AMI has two flashers in the AMIFLASH.ZIP package; one of them may work better than the one you have.

Good Luck,
Henry
