I have a HP Pavilion 8370 which has an ASUS P2B98-XV MOBO and a Pentium II 350MHZ. I just installed 256Mb of ram(single stick) and although it seems to work fine, my Phoenix BIOS reports 0Mb of ram installed. I decided to update the BIOS from ASUS's newest BIOS designed specifically for the ASUS P2B98-XV. Went ahead and flashed it, cleared the CMOS and now everytime I boot it displays PII 175MHZ and then proceeds into the SETUP Utility, and goes to the section containing the Core CPU Frequency settings while a blinking message at the top of the screen reads-

'Computer not properly shut down or CMOS Checksum Error. Check CPU Core Frequency'

Now according to my ASUS manual, that particular setting is not used as I have jumpers on my MOBO for setting the Multiplier and BUS speed. I tried all combinations but the computer would keep doing the same thing.

I have an EPROM burner and went ahead and reflashed my Phoenix which by the way doesn't report any problems with the CMOS and I checked the Battery voltage and it reads 3.0V.

Am I simply stuck with this crappy Phoenix BIOS? I sure would like to use the 256MB single sticks as ASUS states that my MOBO can support 768MB total. HP states in their manual it can only handle 128Mb per slot.

Can I use another BIOS possibly? Maybe P2B drivers? I have no clue as to what to do here and the computer is already 3 years old so I am looking to get the most out of it while I can.
