I purchased in early 99 a motherboard ASUS P2B for Pentium II.

The detail of the bios are as follows:

BIOS Manufacturer : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID : 07/28/98-i440BX->-00
BIOS Date : 07/28/98
BIOS OEM Signon : ASUS P2B ACPI BIOS Revision 1005
BIOS ROM Size : 256K
Chipset : Intel 440BX/ZX rev 2
Super I/O Chip : Winbond 83977TF found at port 3F0h

I have recently purchased a hard disk of 40 Go and contemplate to install ASAP.

My questions are the following.

Do I need to update the bios?

Does the current bios will recognise hard disk of such a size?

If I need to update the bios , I understand that I need to get the program APFlash.exe ( according to the manual). Unfortunately, I don't find this program on ASUS' web sites ( these site refers to another program called AFlash )

Finally, If I need to update the bios, which Bios upgrade file I need to download? ( I am lost between the various versions e.g with or without hardware monitoring).

Please note that I tried several times to reach the Asus web sites for downloading but each time without success. Could someone be kind enough to send me by e mail the relevant flash utility and Bios upgrade programs which fit with my motherboard.

Many thanks for your time and help,
