: Hi, identified my motherboard/bios from F.I.C. as follows:

: BIOS Date: 02/25/99
: BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
: BIOS ID: 02/25/1999-693-596-W977-2A6LFF0AC-00
: BIOS Eval: QF4112C
: Chipset: VIA 82C691 rev 6
: Superio: Winbond 977EF rev 4 found at port 370h

: I want to ugrade to WinXP, but preview version hangs during installation, as did Win 2000. I guess, it could be solved by bios settings, but I tried almost every variant - no success. Can anybody help, please? Thanks, Thomas

Your mainboard model number should be printed on your mainboard, probably between a couple of slots. Your hardware revision number should be in one corner of the board.

Sounds like your mainboard is incompatible with win2k and winXP. How does it work with winMe? I suspect that there is a lot more to compatibility with win2K or winXP than CMOS Settings. There is a lot of information at microsoft's web site; just search for "windows xp bios compatibility" without the quotes.

FIC may have some information too at:

Good Luck,
