: I just installed a PC100 System Board with OS Win ME it only supports a physical serial (com1) port which I use for an exyernal modem but I want to use the internal modem that comes with the board and I can't configure com2 for the internal modem. Does anyone hava a suggestion????

This information is provided for reference purposes only. Daniel Kauffman assumes no liability for the use of this information.

As the computer starts, enter the BIOS config menu by pressing the delete key. Choose "Features Setup" press enter. Scroll down to "Onboard Serial Port1". Use the page up and page down keys to change the port address. Press ESC and then F10 to save and exit.

Your internal modem is now be configured to the port address you just set. Set it up in windows too and you should be good to go. One other caveat, your internal modem could be disabled by a jumper on the motherboard. If that is the case, open the case and remove jumper #25 and jumper #11, if they were shorted.

Best wishes!
