: CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE A 8GB HARDDRIVE PUT MY COMPAQ THINKS IT'S A 2GB HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS

If you have not corrected problem. Try the following
1st make sure the bios knows you have a 8 gb hard drive. Go into bios setting and check. If the computer is set to auto, I would set the drive. the computer will load faster.

2nd run a program called fdisk and check to see if you have more than one parttian and if you do, do they add up to 8gb. If you have additonal parttian they must have a drive letter assigned and be formated. NOte this program should be in the windows\command directory on any win95 or 98 machine.

3rd this really should be first. If you have an old machine or old bios it might not see more than 2gb

hope this helps
