: I used a flash program on the gateway 2000 site to flash my bios. Since then my machine has lost all it's hardware configuration and would not even boot into windows. I have an old Gateway 2000 GP5-166 with phoenix bios 4l3TT0X015A000P079705302217. I have also sought the help of gateway but nothing is forthcoming.
: Please Help!!!

You just need to clear the bios with the CLR jumper. Look on the motherboard. Find a jumper lableld CLR. Remove it (or place on there depending on which way this motherboard goes), power on. You'll see a msg about nvram or bios being cleared. Then power down, reverse the jumper and boot again. The jumper might be labled NVRAM now that I think about it. Check your manual or visit the gateway.com site for support. I think they have manuals online there now.
