: : I RECEIVED A LAPTOP FROM MY UNCLE WHO DIED A FEW MONTHS AGO. I ONLY RECEIVED THE LAPTOP IN THE CASE. I HAVE NO SOFTWARE. I PLUGGED THE LAPTOP IN, AND DISCOVERED THAT I NEED A PASSWORD. I DON'T KNOW THE PASSWORD. WHAT DO I DO?

: just open the case of the laptop and find where the battry is. when you find it plug it out for some minutes and then plug it again in the same place, then put the case of the laptop back and start your computer, your bios password is nolonger valid....

Mansoor...
that is incorrect information.....
Unlike most laptops, Toshibas will NOTY lose their bios password is the batteries .. there are TWO batteries not one...
If the bios has not been upgraded since original purchase, you can use the utility found at astsalavista.com .. Search for toshiba bios password....
Otherwise if you have upgraded, then the backdoor has been slammed shut and you will need to take it to the Toshiba dealer in your area... no workarounds.
