: I'm working with an Ambra Pentium 90, circa 1994, 32MB
: RAM and 2 hard drives (2GB and 8GB, partitioned) and it's
: driving me nuts! Sometime in its life, the original
: BIOS has been replaced with something called EZ BIOS
: from MicroHouse International (a freebie, I suspect).
: I don't know much about computer innards, but I'm
: wondering if a BIOS upgrade might solve my problem.
: When I'm online, the computer takes an age to stop
: r/w to the hard drive (light flashes forever) and
: it feels like the whole system is clogged with
: molasses. Any suggestions?

I had two of these machines when they first came out and both more or less died as time went on. I'm assuming that you have defraged the drives, and also ran scandisk? If not that will help, but the ez-bios is a driver for the hard drive (as I recall) usually for Maxtor drives, and I don't believe it has any thing to do with the computer bios (cmos) at all. As I recall you access that on the Ambra's by using the F1 key as you boot, but it's been a long time. I do still have the manuals though. email me if you need to know still.
