Well, I might be able to help here.
I have just spent several hours working out this problem, as mine would not recognise my new 10gb HD, it would only detect 2gb.

You will find that your motherboard is an ASUS motherboard, PI-P55TP4 which uses the INTEL 430FX chipset. You can check this by opening your computer and looking for the m/b model number whish should be written in big white letters between the ISA slots.

So to get your new bios upgraded, (which I believe fixes some cdrom problems) you need to download the Bios Flash program 'AFLASH.EXE' from the ASUS website as well as the bios upgrade.
The latest one is version 0302, which can be found on the ASUS website under Support/Motherboard/Bios/Socket7.
Or you can try this link:

Once you have the bios update and AFLASH.exe, you will also need to change one of the jumpers on you motherboard, or it won't work (ie: it will tell you that one of your jumpers needs to be changed - it won't kill your system).

Since I didn't have a manual, and there is not one on the ASUS website, I did a bit of trial and error to figure it out. If you look between your PCI slots 2 & 3, you will find a couple of jumpers next to each other. There should be a jumper between pins 1&2 on each. To be able to program the BIOS, you will need to take the jumper closest to the ISA slots off (ie: the bottom one) and put it on pins 2 & 3. Then install the BIOS update as per the instructions on the ASUS website. Once done, turn off your computer, put the jumper back on pins 1 & 2 and reboot your computer. Then press delete to enter your bios setup and select load defaults.

Your bios will now be reprogrammed and should hopefully work with your HD.

: Please help me how can i install a Samsung HD 8,4 Gb to my Pentium 100 with a PI-5XTP4 ( #401a0-0110) m/b with the bios that can only see a 2 Gb Hd. when i do the automatic ide hd detection? Can i upgrade the bios? Where i can find the bios upgrade?
: Thanks
