I want to upgrade my computer to windows98, but I think the BIOS is making me reload the computers original software.

I have an IBM Atpiva computer with Windows95. And I would like to do a clean install, eliminating anything and everything Aptiva.

But even after I have formatted drive C:\, the computer demands that I insert the Aptiva Recovery CD. So I have to reload all the Aptiva programs that IBM bundled together with Windows95 before installing windows.

IS there something in the BIOS that is telling the computer to require the Aptiva Recovery CD be installed?

Can I use a "generic BIOS" that will allow me to put in a windows 95 or Windows98 startup disk and then just install Windows98?
