The absence of the .86A. means it is not a retail Intel board, but an OEM version supplied to another company. You can't flash one over the other in the normal manner. You usually would get the updates therefore from the OEM. If it was .11A. it would be an NEC board - check the exact bios string to be sure.

You can often force flash the Intel bios over an OEM one using the recovery method (details in the manual or on Intel's site - but, and this is a big but, check that your OEM board can take the Intel bios first; you will also lose any warrantees from the original supplier and get no support from Intel).

I suggest you check the intel newsgroups for this info.

: I cant find any update for my bios. Its a Intel mainbord SE440BX and the bios is type BIOS 4S4EBOX1.11.1.007.P06.9810281051. The only one I can find is 4S4EB0X1.86A Standard BIOS Production Release 12, Build 0032 and it doest work when I trye too uppdate my bios. Can you help me. Iwe been searching for weeks now.
